Carlos Winograd - Senior Advisor - Carlos Winograd holds a first degree in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires, an MA in Economics (Cum Lauda) from the Pontificia Universidade Catolica Rio de Janeiro (PUC/RJ). He has been student at the University of Oxford (Nuffield College and Wolfson College) and holds a Masters and PhD from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (PSE-EHESS). He is Research Fellow and Professor at Paris School of Economics-Ecole Normale Supérieure, and University of Paris-Evry V d’Essone. He has received several international awards such as the National Prize in Economics (Losango) in Brazil, the Nuffield and Wolfson Awards in the United Kingdom among other distinctions. In 2004 he received the Academic Merit Award from the French Government. From 1999-2002 he was Secretary of State for Competition, Deregulation and Consumer Affairs, Government of Argentina and in charge of the Coordination for the Ministry of Economy (Argentina) of the Mercosur Macroeconomic Initiatives, 1999-2001. Carlos has taught at universities in France, UK, Argentina and Brazil among others. He has developed consulting activities for multilateral institutions, governments and the corporate sector. Carlos has worked for multilateral institutions such as the World Institute for Development Economics Research (UN), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC-UN), the OECD, the European Commission, World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Economics (Uruguay), the Government of Argentina, the Government of Paraguay, the Telecom and Postal Regulator (Senegal), the AFD (French Development Agency) among others. The corporate consulting activities were developed with firms such as West LB Bank, Synopia-CCF Bank, Renault, Gambro-Sweden, EDF, Cablevision, Telecom Italia, Clarin Media Group, Fintech, Telecom Argentina, TIM Brasil among others, on strategy, valuation, M&A, anti-trust, litigation, macroeconomics and finance.
Gustavo Cañonero – Senior Advisor - Gustavo Cañonero is currently Managing Director and Head of Economic Research for Emerging Markets at Deutsche Bank. Mr. Cañonero joined the Emerging Market Research group at Deutsche Bank in May 1998. Cañonero holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Masters in Economic Theory from the Institute for Social and Economic Development (IDES-Argentina), and a BA in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires- Argentina.
Previous to join DB, he was the main economist for Latin American Research at Salomon Brothers. Prior to this, he worked as a Desk Economist in the European and Western Hemisphere Departments at the International Monetary Fund during which, he focused his research on international trade and finance, and macroeconomics. In addition, while in Argentina, he worked at the Ministry of Finance. In his early years he was research assistant at the Research Center for State and Society (CEDES).
Since being named Chief Economist for Latin America in 2003, Deustche Bank climbed up for four consecutive years to the top three economic teams covering EM in the prestigious Institutional Investor poll. Previously, as economist of the Mercosur countries Cañonero ranked among the three best economists following Brazil in 1999 and Argentina in 2000 by Latin Finance. Since March 2006, Cañonero coordinates the whole economic research effort for Emerging Markets outside Asia.
Andrew Irvine - Senior Advisor - Andrew Irvine is the CEO of TUSK Capital Management Limited (UK), a Managing Partner of TUSK Capital Russia LLC (Moscow) and Chairman of RISK holding (Switzerland). He set up TUSK Capital Management after having left Investec Bank (UK), prior to which he worked at AIG and Rand Merchant Bank. He has over 16 years of experience in trading, derivatives structuring and financial engineering having worked at various positions. He is a frequent participant at forums and summits related to finding sustainable solutions to a low carbon economy and a regular commentator on emerging markets. Mr. Irvine has a BCom Degree (Honors) in Finance from University of Witwatersrand (South Africa). He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a regular member of the UK Society of Investment Professionals (UKSIP). He also holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. |
